BBA to Boycott Court Proceedings From June 28 Against Kidnapping of Khuzdar lawyer

QUETTA: Balochistan Bar Association has announced province-wide boycott of courts proceedings from June 28th protesting against kidnapping of lawyer Munir Ahmed Mirwani who was whisked away by armed men from Khuzdar district a week ago.
The announcement made by President BBA, Baz Mohammed Kakar, during a news conference at Quetta Press Club on Friday. The Bar Members will also hold a street demonstration condemning the kidnapping of lawyer.
He said that the lawyers will not appear before superior and lower courts to register their protest against the hostage-taking of lawyer. “The law and order situation is deteriorating and no one is secure from the offenders and law breakers,” he added. He said that the Government had spared no professionals from kidnapping saying that doctors are also kidnapped.
President of BBA also criticized the provincial government for its failure to maintain peace and order in the province.
Baz Mohammad Kakar has said that there is need of united front among the lawyers, political parties, doctors, engineers, members of the civil society and others to struggle for rule of law in the province. “If the lawyer was not recovered safe and early we, lawyers, would intensify the agitation throughout Pakistan” he warned.
He informed that lawyers will go to Khuzdar and meet with the family members of the kidnapped lawyer to express their complete solidarity. “After the 28th June lawyers will begin token strike and would not appear before the courts,” he maintained.
The General Secretary of Jhalawan Bar Association, Munir Ahmed Mirwani, was kidnapped at gunpoint by unidentified armed men in Khuzdar on June 17, 2010.
