QUETTA, June 22, 2010: Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani has called upon the doctors, educationists and the civil society to come forward and help the government in combating the anti-social elements, paving way for a peaceful and congenial environment in the province.
The Chief Minister Balochistan made this pledge while talking to a delegation of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan chapter led by its president, Dr. Mazar Khan Baloch, which called on him here Tuesday.
The delegation had called on the Chief Minister to apprise him of the disappearances of a number of doctors over the past few months without leaving any trail or headway with regard to their safe and early recovery.
Nawab Aslam Raisani on the occasion gave assurances that the Balochistan government was seriously pursuing the matter and the President, the Prime Minister, the Federal Interior Minister and other relevant quarters had been approached with regard to tracing the missing persons. “My government had been running from pillar to post, leaving no stones unturned in, to get first hand information with regard to the whereabouts of the missing persons including the doctors,” Nawab Raisani said.
He said it was unfortunate that the miscreants had been targeting the teachers, doctors and educated lot of the society only to deter the saner elements of the society to serve the people of Balochistan, especially those engaged serving the ailing people or providing education to the sons and daughters in the remote parts of the province. “As a result the doctors and teachers had been reluctant to serve in the interior or in far off places,” the Chief Minister deplored.
Nawab Aslam Raisani while categorically condemning the target killing of the innocent people maintained that no person as a human being could think of shedding blood of innocent people. He said his government had equally condemned the abduction of the people on political grounds and it was due to the earnest efforts that a comprehensive list had been handed over to the federal government as well as the same was got published in the newspapers enabling the affected families to approach the authorities concerned. He maintained that the courts of law were also examining the issue of missing persons and positive outcome was expected to come forth.
The Chief Minister called upon the civil society, especially the doctors, lawyers and the teachers to come forward, leaving behind their political, religious or ethnic loyalties for a greater cause of saving the innocent people from target killers and the anti-social elements. He said he was more nationalist than any political party or individual but his thoughts and belief were based upon love and fraternity. “There is a clear divide between a nationalist and a fascist. The former loves his entity and respects others whereas the latter is biased with myopic vision,” Nawab Raisani said.
The Chief Minister gave assurances to the PMA delegation that the problems confronting the medical professionals would be looked into and resolved on priority basis. He asked them to serve the people with dedication and with missionary zeal, justifying their oath which they had taken while opting this sacred profession.
