Doctors Stage Noisy Rally Against Kidnappings
QUETTA: Doctors took out a rally and held a protest sit-in on Zarghoon Road on Wednesday demanding safe and early recovery of missing doctors who they alleged whisked away by security forces.
The rally was started from Government Sandman Hospital Quetta and tried to proceed towards Chief Minister’s Secretariat but police squad stopped the protestors near GPO intersection and put up barricades.
They were carrying placards and shouting full throat slogans against the Government condemning the kidnapping of doctors. The doctors also voice their strong protest over denying admission to the legitimate students in the Bolan Medical College who qualified for admission. They blamed the anti-people Mafia within the Provincial Health Department denying medical education facilities to the deserving students from far flung areas of Balochistan.
The protesting doctors and students staged a sit-in and disrupted the traffic on Zarghoon Road for several hours. Member of Doctors Forum, Naseer Baloch has alleged that Doctor Naseem Baloch was arrested by security forces in front of the Bolan Medical Collage a month ago. He said three doctors Doctor Din Mohammad Marri and Doctor Akbar Marri had been missing for the past one year and there is no clue about their whereabouts. “The doctors are being kidnapped from duty then how can doctors perform their duties of saving human lives in such circumstances,” he said adding that doctors have been on strike for past one month but Government was not paying any heed toward this grave humanitarian issue.
He warned that if appropriate steps were not taken to ensure the safe recovery of missing people, the doctors would go on strike for an indefinite period and take more severe steps to intensify the protest.
Later, Provincial Minister for Health, Ayeenuddin Shams came to the protesting doctors and held negotiations. Minister said that there are many people belonging to deferent walk of life went missing and government had registered its protest several time and still working on it. “All the people know that who is behind taking-hostage,” he responds to a questioner. He said he would again discuss the issue with Chief Minister and sought out a plan to ensure the early recovery of missing people.
While talking to protestors, Minister expressed his serious concerned and conceded that law and order is deteriorating in the province. However, he said Provincial Government utilizing all its resources to maintain peace and ensure safety of life and property of the people.
The protestors peacefully dispersed after assurance of Minister that he would take up the issue with Chief Minister.
