Hindu trader shot dead, son kidnapped in Quetta
QUETTA: A prominent Hindu rice trader was shot dead and his son was kidnapped by armed bandits wearing uniform of the Balochistan Levies Force in Quetta on Tuesday night.
The businessman Hamesh Kumar had closed his wholesale shop in Satellite Town and was trying to go back home along with his son Rajesh Kumar, they were waylaid by the gunmen driving a car.
Hamesh Kumar tried to resist the attempt to kidnap his son Rajesh during which the desperado opened direct firing aiming at the life of Hamesh Kumar wounding him seriously.
He was taken to a nearby private hospital where he was reported dead by the doctors. Later on his body was shifted to the Civil Hospital for a post mortem examination.
At this stage a large number of people from the Hindu Community, accompanied by local traders, businessmen and shop keepers staged a noisy and protest demonstration shouting slogans against the government and its failure to provide security to life and property of the people, mainly business people and those belonging to religious minority community.
They also resorted to bonfires and blocked the vehicular traffic on the road to register their protest.
Anjuman Tajiran, Quetta, also joined the protest and its office-bearers delivered fiery speeches condemning the inefficiency and incompetency of Government to protect life and honour of the people, mainly traders and businessmen.
Later on the senior police officials intervened and assured the protesters that the culprits would be brought to book.
