NP Meeting Calls For Change in Islamabad’s Attitude Towards Provinces
QUETTA: A two-day meeting of the Central Committee of National Party took place in Quetta under the leadership of party president Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch which discussed a number of local, national and international political, social and economic issues.
Speaking at the meeting, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch strongly criticized the Balochistan government for becoming subservient to the Establishment and remaining totally powerless due to which the province had come in the grip of multiple issues such as target killings, lawlessness and unabated military operation against the Baloch people. He regretted no progress on the part of the government regarding the recovery of the missing persons.
” The Balochistan government seems to be very helpless before the Establishment,” said Senator Malik who charged that corruption had increased in Balochistan during the present government’s tenure.
He said both the provincial and the federal government had utterly failed to recover the missing persons, end target killings and robbery and provide justice to the masses which clearly showed the powerlessness of the democratic government in front of the powerful establishment. Even then, this powerless democratic government was not acceptable to certain quarters of powers who want to once again derail the democratic process.
He called for a change in the federal government’s attitude towards Balochistan and its people as he insisted that until a group of powerful officers hailing from Punjab changed their behavior towards smaller provinces, the gulf between Baloch leaders and Punjab would continue to exist.
