Raisani chairs pre-budget meeting of parliamentary groups

QUETTA, June 17: Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani has said that the government would focus more on improving the health, education, water-supply and the communications sectors during the next financial while at the same time protecting the on-going development schemes, ensuring timely completion of such schemes.

The Chief Minister was presiding over a high level meeting of the coalition partners in the Balochistan government here Thursday evening to discuss the budgetary proposals for the next financial year 2010-11.

The meeting was attended among others by Muhammad Aslam Bhotani, Speaker Balochistan provincial assembly; Maulana Abdul Wasay, senior minister planning and development; Mir Asim Kurd Gailu, minister finance besides other provincial ministers and senior government officials.

Addressing the meeting Nawab Raisani called upon the participants to submit their proposals having collective benefits in order to minimize as well as to rationalize the financial burdens involved in the proposed uplift plans.

Chief Minister said the Balochistan government had chalked out a comprehensive plan aimed at providing maximum social-sector services to the people across the province without any prejudice or favouritism. He maintained that all districts would be treated equally in terms of development of the areas with more focus on improving the education and health sectors and ensuring supply of clean drinking water to the masses and easy access through construction of quality roads.

The meeting discussed in details the proposed development and non-development expenditures; anticipated revenue receipts including Gas Development Surcharge and the NFC award vis-à-vis the on-going and new PSDP schemes.

The participants exchanged views and gave useful inputs to make the next budget more realistic and more people-friendly.
