Rickshaw Drivers On The Verge Of Suicide: ABRA

The Baloch Hal News

QUETTA: All Balochistan Rickshaw Association (ABRA) has threatened to launch civil disobedience movement against the government.

The chief of Association Lala Yousaf Khilji, while addressing a press conference here on Monday, said injustice in the country had multiplied to the extent that 3 million Rickshaw drivers were on the verge of suicide,  adding if anyone among the association members committed suicide then hte onus would lie on the government for such a desperate measure.

He blamed that government for deteriorating the circumstances to lowest ebb. While the people were suffering so much due to poverty that they were compelled to kill their own children, the government was doing nothing to improve the state of the common people. “Instead we have been accused of making environment polluted,” he grumbled.

He opined that rickshaws given by banks were a source of minting money by charging high rates of interest. He also lashed at the police department for unfair earning in the name of permits from the poor drivers.

He voiced solidarity with rickshaw drivers of Karachi in the wake of a similar deadline given on the same issue. He warned the government to mend its way otherwise a civil disobedience movement would be launched.
