School Children Block Quetta-Karachi Highway To Protest Prolonged Power Load-Shedding

KHUZDAR: Long duration of load shedding of electricity forced school chidrne to come on the roads in Khuzdar district on Monday to block the Quetta-Karachi highway for traffic.

According to details, Khuzdar is facing long load-shedding for the last one month. The cycle of load-shedding has terribly disturbed school children and their academic activities.   On Monday,  instead of going to schools, the children decided to March on the roads to protest restoration of supply of electricity. As a part of their strike, they blocked Quetta-Karachi section of RCD ( Regional Cooperation Development) highway by burning tyres. Blockade of highway created massive difficulties for the travelling public for several hours. Hundreds of buses, trucks and private vehicles were stranded due to the closure of the highway.

Members of Students Action Committee said that state institutions had adopted new tactics of troubling the Baloch people by suspending the supply of  electricity.  Doors of education, they added, were being closed for the Baloch on children. Due to very hot weather, they were feeling difficulties in acquiring education. This forced them to come to streets instead of going to their schools, he concluded.
