US Forces in The Region Responsible For Lawlessness in Balochistan: Senior Minister

QUETTA: Senior Provincial Minister of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam (JUI) Maulana Abdul Wasey has held the presence of US troops in the region responsible for the growing state of law and order in Balochsitan.

Addressing a press briefing here on Thursday, Wase said Planning and Development Department  would complete 349 new projects and 393 uplift projects at the end of this fiscal year.

He said that government would spend Rs 26 billions on 812 development projects in Balochistan during the next financial year.

The Minister said that federal government had promised to give Rs 120 billion as arrears over the Gas royalty and it will be given in installment of Rs 10 billion each year. He thought it was a success of the Provincial Government in securing additional resources from the Federal Government by getting a favourable NFC Award.

He surprised the journalists when he favoured rather demanded a Rental Power plant in gas and coal rich Balochistan to meet the demand of some orchard owners and agriculturalists. Instead of establishing power plants based on Sui Gas and Chamalang and Mach Coal from the provincial resources, Mulla Wasey suggested Rental Power Plant for Balochistan.

“Balochistan Government will spend Rs 9.8 billion for maintenance of structure of roads and will spend Rs 2.3 billion for improvement of education in the province,” he informed.

He said keeping in view the need of dams Federal Government allocated Rs 42 billion in Federal PSDP for construction of 100 dams. Around 50 dams are under constructions in the province and the work would be started soon on other 50 dams, he added.

Senior Minister said it was an historic budget for this backward province because in the past the budget remained less than Rs 50 to 60 billion and the most important things is that the education and health sectors were given priority in the budget.

“All the backward districts were given priority on equivalent basis and there are no chances of discriminating of any area,” he said adding that Balochistan has been neglected for the past six decades.

He said that the Government had gained in National Finance Commission (NFC) Award and it is an initiative towards greater inflow of resources from the Federation to the Provinces. The Federal Government itself also is taking interest to strengthen the provinces by providing them maximum resources.

“All the resources given by Federal Government would be spent on welfare of the people,” he maintained.
