17 killed & 35 Hurt in Bus-Truck Collision

At least 17 people died and 35 others sustained injuries in a bloody collision between a passenger coach and a loaded truck in Yak Mach area between Nokkundi and Dalbandin, some 400-kilometer from provincial capital, on Thursday.

A Quetta-bound passenger coach carrying more than fifty people was on its way from Taftan, a bordering township with Iran, collided with a truck loaded with marbles. Resultantly, 17 people died on the spot and 35 others suffered multiple wounds. The injured and dead bodies were tripped in the coach for several hours and were retrieved after the long efforts of local people and administration.

The coach was completely destroyed in the accident.
The dead bodies and the injured were taken to Shiekh Zayed Hospital where the injured were later rushed to Quetta for better treatment. A single doctor was on duty when the injured were brought to hospital for first aid. A large number of inhabitants have come to the help of injured people.
It may be mention that the Sheikh Zyed Hospital is well equipped with modern technology but because of lack of professional doctors the machineries are unused. The Provincial Health Directorate took no interest in making the hospital fully functional.
Official sources said that the most of the slain men were pilgrims and were returning from Iran.
The dead bodies were identified as Zafar, Abdul Khaliq, Awaran, Syedal, Sakhidad, Abdul Razzaq, Abdul Rahim, Mohammad Hussain, Mohammad Jan, Akhtar Raza, Mohammad Yousaf, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Akram, Bor Mohammad, Mohammad Haider, Mohammad Amin , Anyatullah.
The bodies had been handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities. Most of them belonged to Quetta.
Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the tragic accident and directed the local health authorities to provide proper medical treatment to all the injured people.
