Another BNP Leader Shot Dead in Kalat
KALAT: Yet another leader of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) was shot dead by unknown attackers on Tuesday in Kalat District.
According to the police sources, Haji Liquat Mengal, a tehsil president of the BNP and a member of the central committee of Balochistan Zamindar Action Committee, was shot by three unknown attackers near Government High School Maghulzai when he was on his way from downtown to his house.
Mengal’s killing comes a week after the high-profile killing of a top BNP leader Habib Jalib. the party’s secretary general, for which two groups i.e. Baloch Musla Defai Tanzeem and Arsalan-ul-Islam had simultaneously accepted responsibility for the killing.
A large number of people joined the funereal prayers of the BNP leader. No one has accepted responsibility for the killing. The BNP leaders staged a protest rally in front of Quetta Press Club to condemn the killing of its leader.

It is shameful how the State Agencies have decided not to tackle the political issue of the Baloch politically but by eliminating political workers of different political forums and ideas. One wonders why activists of BNP-M are ready to sacrifice their lives for a cause which, to the majority of Baloch, is no cause at all – bringing back Sardar Akhtar Mengal to power and make him behave the way he did when he was CM for a little more than a year in 1990s. During his CMship the only things that he did was that he allegedly got himself rich, got allegedly released his brother at the hands of Karachi Airport FIA when Javaid was allegedly travelling abroad with a briefcase full of US dollars; drove his official car with Nawaz Sharif rising his head from the roof cheering members of PML and BNP celebrating the atomic blast at Chagai; and what else? Is this teermaree worth sacrificing precious lives for?? Akhtar Jan has clearly said that he would not be dictated by “children” and will not opt for Balochistan’s independence, so what else? Is Pakistani democracy worth sacrificing lives for? See the NP leadership! How they have found a safe way to live and enjoy power without being in parliament. NP’s alliance with the Agencies and Pak army has made its leadership safe which enjoys full protection from the Agencies except for that from Baloch nationalist and freedom loving forces, as Dr Malik has been repeatedly saying these days. A couple days ago some friends were discussing these issues here in Quetta and one from Turbat recited an interesting poem composed by a NP poet dedicated to its leadership which says: biae galaen ey haramzadagan; e dore noken shahzadagan; chia ke gon ma na beet noon jail o bandigeri; chia ki gon ma na beet noon sagag chabok hari.
See what sagacity is shown by the leadership of NP???? Why not BNP-Mengal follows the same course if the goal is Pakistani parliament and ministries and to accommodate friends and party jialas in some zarri departments.
