Army’s Role Lauded or Resolving Tribal Disputes
QUETTA: The Pakistan Army has managed to resolve a 50-year old dispute between two factions of Ali Zai tribe and a landmark agreement was signed by members of Aliaai tribe at Quetta on Wednesday in order to make operational the Kasa Hill Marble Project, Loralai.
The excavation of Kasa Hills Marble Reserves, located in Tehsil Bori of district Loralai, could not commence earlier due to intra-tribal dispute of Zai tribe which existed between both groups is attributable to the joint efforts of Government of Balochistan and Pakistan Army.
A number of meeting on the issue were held by the officials of Pakistan Army with the stake holders after a request in this regard was made to Commander Southern Command by Chief Minister, Balochistan and elders of Ali Zai Tribe.
Addressing the agreement signature ceremony held at Quetta, Commanding Officer Major General Mohammad Saad Khattak, Brigadier Qisar Abbas and Sadiq Ali Zai have said Kasa Hill Marble reserves have significant economic potential, including huge employment opportunities and revenue generation.
They said that the agreement will create conducive environment for marble excavation activities which will benefit the local population along with the stake holders. It will also facilitate development and prosperity of the area in terms of business and economic activities and also provision of health facilities and quality of education to the children of Ali Zai Tribe.
At the agreement signing ceremony, the notables of District Loralai and Ali Zai tribe appreciated the efforts undertaken for finalization of the Kasa Agreement and hoped that the project will usher in an era of prosperity in the poverty ridden areas of district Loralai.
