Ziarat Residency Handed Over to Civil Adminsteration

QUETTA: The Pakistan Army has completed repairing and renovation work of Quaid-e-Azam Residency with cost of Rs 26 million with its own funds and on Monday at its request.

Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court Qazi Faez Isa handed over the key of the premises to the provincial Secretary Culture.

Chief Justice BHC Qazi Faez Isa and Commander Southern Command Lt. General Javaid Zia inaugurated the renovated Qauid-e-Azam Residency in Zairat.

Addressing the ceremony, the BHC CJ lauded the role of Pak Army in establishing 25 schools and six basic health units in earthquake hit areas of Ziarat.

He recalled that the Pak Army personnel had donated their one-day salary for the earthquake victims of Zairat and the repairing and renovation work of the Quaid-e-Azam Residency was also carried out with these funds.

He said that Quaid-e-Azam passed his last days of life at Ziarat Residency as he loved the people of Balochistan ver much. He added that it was the Quaid-e-Azam who demanded provincial status for British Balochistan through his famous 14-points.

He stressed the need to save Juniper forest located in Ziart. He said that Quaid-e-Azam rejected the idea to get treatment of his disease tuberculoses abroad and selected Ziarat in this regard.

He said that it was Quaid-e-Azam who tendered resignation from the membership of British Legislative Council but rejected the demand to support passage of an illegal draft of a bill. He urged the youths to only pay attention to their study.

Brig. Tariq Mehmood who supervised the repairing and renovation work of the residency told media that a gallery was also constructed at the residency to display photos of Quaid-e-Azam. He maintained that a cafeteria for tourists and a souvenir shop was also constructed there.

Provincial Ministers Mir Shah Nawaz Marri, Maulana Abdul Samad, senior officials from Pak Army, including Col. Khalid of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) and Balochistan Police and others were also present.
