“National Party Killed Jalib”, Claims “Sourceless” Online News Agency Report

QUETTA: In a clear effort to divert attention from the political murder of Balochistan National Party secretary general Habib Jalib Baloch and create differences among the Baloch leaders, a news agency in Balochistan has claimed, while quoting anonymous police sources, that the National Party was behind the killing of the Baloch leader.
The report run by Online News Network claimed that the police had said in initial investigation that the National Party could be involved in the killing of Jalib to avenge the murder of its central leader Mir Maula Baksh Dashti who had been killed last Sunday.
Habib Jalib Baloch was killed in Quetta city on Wednesday while the National Party leader Maula Baksh Dashti, who is also a former district nazim of Kech, was also killed last Sunday.
The Islamabad edition of leading Urdu papers, such as Daily Express, carried the report, on their front pages.
” This is a totally misleading and irresponsible report filed by Online News Agency. It is a clear joke with the Baloch nation at this hard time. Who are the sources that have not been mentioned in this anti-Baloch news story which gives a safe passage to the actual killers of Jalib,” Dr. Ishaq Baloch, the central vice president of the National Party told The Baloch Hal.
He said the National Party would challenge the news agency in the court for spreading false rumors to create differences in the Baloch society. On the one hand, our leaders are being killed and on the other hand, we are held responsible for killing our own people. This is too much, he said.
“The news story seems to have been “planted” by certain elements to engage the Balochs in internal fight. Why does it not mention the police sources who made such a statement?” he inquired.
The National Party vice president said the Bureau Chief of the news agency, who is known to have close links with Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani and BNP-Awami president Israr Zehri, would be asked for an explanation as to what motivated him to run such a speculative as well as provocative report in the media.
The online news report has also made every effort to support the state intelligence agencies which have been blamed by the BNP central president Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal to have perpetrated the killing.
