No Extra Check-posts Exist in Balochistan: Federal Interror Secretary

QUETTA: ” No unnecessary check post of Frontier corps and Coast Guards exist in Balochistan. However, check posts do exist in border areas according to the need and discharging duty of checking terrorism and alleged entry of anti social elements.”

These views were expressed by Federal Secretary Interior Asif Nawaz while chairing a meeting here Tuesday.

Provincial Secretary Home Akbar Durrani, Additional Secretary Rafiq Ahmad, General Staff Operation FC Lt Col Hasnain, GEO Pakistan Coast Guards Lt Col Aimal and Collector Customs Hafiz Hamdullah attended the meeting.

The meeting held detailed discussion on FC and Coast Guards check posts. Provincial Secretary Home stressed the need for abolishing FC and Coast Guards posts in different parts of the province immediately.

Interior Secretary said that there were 28 FC posts in Balochistan and at only 3 posts officials have been deployed while 25 are inactive. However in view of special requirements staff is deployed at these check posts.

He said owing to presence of check posts in border areas, great success had been achieved to stop smuggling of arms and ammunition and stopping terrorists from entering into the country.  He said law and order and security to life and property of people was the topmost responsibility of the government and federal government would not only take necessary steps in this regard but would also extend full assistance to all provinces,  including Balochistan, at every level to meet their security requirements.
