President Zardari Condoles Jalib’s Assassination
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday strongly condemned the assassination of senior Baloch nationalist leader and former parliamentarian Habib Jalib Baloch in Quetta and ordered an inquiry.
The President termed it a heinous and despicable act and asked the provincial government to investigate and track down the perpetrators. He said justice would be done and those responsible be punished. He directed that a report be submitted to him at the earliest.
President Zardari paid rich tributes to the late Habib Jalib and described him as a great politician who strove hard for democracy. He pointed that the Senator played an effective role in highlighting the problems of his area as an elected member of the Senate in 1997 and serving as a member of several parliamentary standing committees.
The President also appreciated his role in raising his voice for the rights of the people of Balochistan.
In a message to his family the President prayed to Allah Almighty to bless the departed soul and for courage to his family to bear the irreparable loss.
PM condemns: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Wednesday strongly condemning the murder of BNP (M), Leader Habib Jalib Baloch murdered by unknown assailants in Quetta.
Gilani telephoned Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani and ordered investigation of this heinous crime.
The Prime Minister directed the concerned authorities that real perpetrators of this cold blooded murder must be apprehended and brought to justice.
He said the perpetrators have anti-state designs and want to create disturbance in the society to destabilise the country.
In his message of condolence to the bereaved family, the Prime Minister paid rich tribute to the political services of the deceased and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
He also prayed to Allah Almighty to grant courage to the family members of late Habib Jalib Baloch to bear this loss with equanimity.
Naek, Jamali condemn: Chairman Senate Farooq H Naek and Deputy Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali on Wednesday strongly condemned the murder of former senator and Secretary General of BNP Mengal Habib Jalib Baloch.
The General Secretary of BNP Mengal was murdered by unknown assailants in Quetta Wednesday morning.
They have termed the murder as a despicable act designed to foment trouble and anarchy in the country, said a press release issued here.
The Chairman and Deputy Chairman have expressed the confidence that perpetrators of the crime would not be able to escape punishment.
They have appealed to the public to remain calm and united to foil the designs of the enemies of the country.
Both urged the provincial administration not to spare any effort in arresting and punishing the culprits.
They have offered their heart-felt condolences to the family of late senator and prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant fortitude to members of the bereaved family to bear this loss with equanimity.
The leader of the house in the senate Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and leader of the opposition senator Wasim Sajjad have also flayed the murder of Ex-senator and offered their condolences to his family.
Cabinet condemns: The Cabinet on Wednesday condemned the murder of Senator Habib Jalib, Secretary General of BNP.
It also supported Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani’s action for judicial inquiry into the incident.
The Federal Cabinet also condoled with the family of the deceased and sympathized with Senator Sardar Ataullah Mengal.
Nawaz Sharif/ Shahbaz Sharif condemn: Mian Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N leader and Mian Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab Chief Minister have also condemned the assassination of former Senator Habib Jalib Baloch.
Bijarani, Durrani condemn: Federal Minister for Industries and Production Mir Hazar Khan Bijarani and Minister of State for Industries and Production Dr Ayatullah Durrani have condemned the assassination of BNP leader and ex-Senator Habib Jalab Baluch.
The Ministers, in their separate condolence messages, prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to bereaved family and BNP Leadership to bear this irreparable loss.-APP

Altaf Hussain grieved: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Chief Altaf Hussain strongly condemning the killing of Central Secretary General, Balochistan National Party (Mengal) Habib Jalib Baloch, has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the incident.
He said he shares the grief of the bereaved family, BNP leaders and workers and expresses complete solidarity with them over the incident, said a statement issued by MQM here.
Altaf has called for initiating a high-level probe into the killing of Habib Jalib and said that the culprits behind this heinous act of terrorism be arrested.
He prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal rest and grant courage to bereaved family to bear the loss.
Sherry condemns killing : Former Information Minister Sherry Rehman has condemned the killing of political activist and former senator, Habib Jalib.
“This (killing) is part of a series of politically motivated murders in Balochistan, and marks a tragic and dangerous trend in a province that is burning with dispossession and anger,” she said in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
She urged the government to act very fast to find the killers as failure doing so will only fuel more dissent and alienation among the Baloch people.
“Crimes like this are going unpunished too often, and no one should be above the law. The Baloch have too many grievances with the centre already, and we must do our utmost to mainstream them by addressing their genuine complaints,” she observed.
She said Habib Jalib was a political activist and was well known to all those who have worked with the Baloch people.
“I extend my condolences to his family and friends at this difficult and tragic hour,” added Ms Rehman.
