Shia Leader Target Killed in Quetta
QUETTA, July 2: Unidentified assailants gunned down a Shia leader in Sariab area of Quetta on Friday, police said.
The President of Kashmiri Imam Bargah, Ali Mohammad was passing through the street in Shahjee Chowk on Sariab Road when unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate firing on him. As a result, he received three bullets on his head and three on the chest that causing his on the spot death. The attackers fled the scene on motorcycle after commiting the crime.
The body of deceased was shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta for autopsy where the body later handed over to his relatives for burial.
According to eyewitnesses, the victim had a pistol in his possession perhaps for self-defense and the attackers took it away before fleeing from the site. “It can be an incident of sectarian killing and police is investigating into the matter”, said a police official.
Police has registered a case and started investigation. Quetta has remained the hub of sectarian target killings by the majority Sunni militants against the Shia minorities.
