Two Settlers Target Killed in Gwadar

GWADAR: Two non-local people were killed in Balochsitan’s coastal town of Gwadar in what seemed to be a case of target killing at the Airport Road of the emerging port city, police confirmed.

According to sources, unidentified armed men barged into the burger shop situated on Airport Road and opened fire on shopkeeper identified Malik Sarwar killing him instantly while a vender Kala Khan, standing close to the shop, also received bullet injuries. The attackers fled the scene after committing the crime. The body and the injured were taken to Civil Hospital Gwadar where Kala Khan succumbed to his injuries.

The victim was resident of Lahore and it was a case of target killing, a senior police officer told this correspondent.

Police launch a search operation in the area soon after the incident.

No group has accepted responsibility for the killings. Non-locals and foreign engineers, particularly Chinese nationals, have been targeted in the past by Baloch resistance forces from time to time in Gwadar where Pakistan has constructed a controversial deep sea port with the financial and technical support of China.

Meanwhile, unknown persons hurled a hand grenade at Tehsil office of Mastung district. It landed and exploded in the premises of office damaging wall and windowpanes. However no causality reported in the blast.

According to eyewitnesses, the attackers were ridding on a motorbike and also resorted to scare firing to create panic.
