Watchman Killed in Bolan Over Resisting Robbers

BOLAN: A watchman was gunned down by robbers over resistance during a robbery in coalmine field in Mach Tehsil of Bolan district on Tuesday.

According to sources, robbers barged into coalmine with the criminal intention of committing robbery. As the watchman, Thoor Khan, spotted the robbers and made efforts to capture them, the culprits opened fire and killed him instantly.

Soon after the incident, a large number of labourers gathered at the crime scene and took the body to nearby hospital. Protesting labourers claimed that there was not a single doctor available in Civil Hospital Mach to attend the dead body. They shouted full-throat slogans against the administration over its failure to maintain peace in the area.

Labourers, who took out a protest rally and marched  through different places, held a protest demonstration at Babu Nauroz Chowk of Mach Town.

Addressing the protesters, Union leader Sirzameen Afghani said that the government had failed to maintain peace in a small township where  incidents of robbery and kidnapping for ransom were occurring regularly.

Enraged ;abourers also blocked the National Highway, disrupting the flow of traffic for several hours. The labourers demanded the immediate arrest of culprits involved in killing of labourers and other crimes.

The Assistant Commissioner of the area, Ghulam Mohammad Tareen, held talks with the angry protesters and assured that law enforcement agencies would make all-out efforts to arrest the culprits. The protestors dispersed peacefully after assurance of official and the traffic was restored on national highway.
