Zero Derma Children Admitted At CMH Quetta

QUETTA: Commandant Combined Military Hospital Quetta Brig. Asif on Friday said four children suffering from zero derma disease have been admitted to the CMH and a board of army specialist doctors had started their treatment.

Talking to the stat news agency, he noted that children in Landi Khosa, an area of Kachhi Bolan district were affected from zero derma disease due to cousin marriage for last many decades.

He noted that samples of the affected children were sent to England based diagnostic laboratory which had confirmed it a genetics disease caused by marriages only with close relatives for many decades.

Brig. Asif highlighted that no single specialist doctor could treat those children as the disease was very complicated and chronical. He maintained that at the CMH, a team of doctors including skin specialist, plastic surgeon, eye and child specialist have been assigned task to treat the children.

He said skin cells of the affected children became uncontrolled and as a result, the affected children suffered from skin cancer, damaging  eyes etc.

He added that military doctors would make their best efforts to create an environment for the children in order to reduce their misery.

He said the affected children have to suffer a lot after suffering from zero derma disease as their very poor parents could not afford their treatment at early stage.
