Jamil Bugti Calls for Re-demarcation of Provinces

The Baloch Hal News

QUETTA: Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti, a son of prominent Baloch nationalist leader late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, has proposed the re-demarcation of provinces on ethnic, linguistic and cultural basis merging Dera Ghazi Khan, Kandkot, Kashmore, Jacobabad and other Baloch areas into Balochistan before any plebiscite is held ascertaining the will of the people to remain in Pakistan or not.

Addressing a news conference at the Bugti Bolak on the fourth death anniversary of his father Shaheed Akbar Bugti, he said it is a democratic proposal and Pakistan as a civilized nation should accept it

He said that the plebiscite in Balochistan should be held under the supervision of the United Nations as was done in East Timore and other areas.

Hundreds of people attended the Fateha Khwani for late Nawab and later Langar was distributed. A large number of Bugti tribesmen, politicians, former Minister, tribal elders and political activists participated in the function.

Nawabzada Jamil Bugti said that the Balochs would like the Pakhtuns to opt for KP or form their own separate province once the Baloch territories are re-demarcated and regrouped into a single political entity. He said that the Pakhtuns are residing on their own national homeland and the Balochs had no claims on their territory and resources.

He lamented the polemics among the Baloch nationalist parties and appealed to them not to take their differences in public or at least avoid media in the interest of Baloch rights and unity.

Rebutting the off and on charges that the Baloch militants are receiving Indian money, Nawabzada Jamil Bugti retorted that now the Government of Pakistan had accept the “Hindu mone”y and for the donation, Pakistan Government had thanked India for the generosity.

He said he had received a question from the police that where Nawab Bugti was assassinated. He deplored that the Police had registered a FIR and still it had not been able to locate the site of crime.

Bugti was firm and sure that the Government is incapable to implement the orders of the court and will not arrest the culprits, particularly former Army Chief General Pervez Musharraf whom they seen off with an official guard of honour.

He recalled the incident of Dr Shazia Khalid rape case in which an Army Captain was involved. He said that the whole Government had protected the rape accused and refused to punish him. On the contrary, Dr Shazia Khalid was expelled from the country and no inquiry report on the subject was made public. How come the Government will take action against the former President, sitting Governor of NWFP, former Interior Minister and Balochistan Chief Minister.

He condemned the role of religious parties and said that they are equally responsible for military operation in Balochistan culminating in assassination of Nawab Bugti. He said Jamaat-i-Islami was part of the MMA Government in Balochistan that had made a formal request to the Federal Government to use Army against the Baloch people.

At least Pakistanis enlightened Balochs about the golden
    path of freedom.

A timely call from Nawabzada Jamil Akbar Bugti. Baloch desperately need a Baloch-majority province to protect their language(s) (the Baloch nation mainly speak Balochi, Brahui and Siraiki languages), culture, history, traditions, identity. They cannot do so unless they have their own province where they are in a majority and are the policy-makers. An ethnic province will also boost up job opportunities for thousands of jobless graduates, open new business opportunities and give Baloch an identity. It is also in the interest of the Pathans who can boost up their share in the federation by having their own province. It is shocking why Baloch and Pashtun politicians avoid this basic question and do not sit and decide to separate their ethnic lands. Those groups who are engaged in a struggle for the freedom of Balochistan cannot be expected to take this issue but one wonders why the BNPs, the NP, JWP and other Pakistan-based political parties keep a criminal silence this point. Imagine how many new jobs would be created in a new Baloch-based province, how many members in the Senate and National Assembly would be selected from the Baloch province, and similarly, the Baloch would have their share in the federal jobs also where there is not even a single Baloch serving in present times – a few jobs in the federation are occupied by Pathans from Quetta and elsewhere. Hope Jamil Bugti will take this issue as a mission and take this message to other Baloch and Pashtun political groups convincing them to agree on the point that it is in the interest of both the groups that Baloch areas are separated from those Pashtun areas which formed a part of the province of Kandahar before the British occupied and merged them with Baloch areas forming the infamous British Balochistan.

Mr Zia, thanks for your warning. In fact, your only name is sufficient to make us shiver, and the flag next to your message is even more terrifying and frightening to the Baloch as a whole. Be assured, Baloch are well-aware of their helplessness and the mighty power of your state but your language has a proverb, marta kia na karta (a dying person uses any means available).

    Mr PAKISTANI,

You people are the one who are giving us blood bath because we are asking for our rights. you people have been sucking our resources and blood from the last 68 years. We may be helpless today but our history says that we are not coward. INSHAHALLAH the victory will also come.
