QUETTA: Baloch Liberation Front (BLF), an underground armed group struggling for the independence of Balochistan, has severely reacted to National Party’s decision to include drug baron Imamb Baksh Bizenjo alias Imama Bheel in the party.

Doda Baloch, a spokesman for the BLF, said National Party was working for the interests of the Pakistani establishment on a new front by providing shelter to all drug barons and child smugglers under its umbrella.

“BLF had been saying in the past that National Party was affiliated with the drug mafia. In the past, Hasil (Khan Bizenjo) and (Dr. Abdul) Malik used to cry that Imam (Bizenjo) was the establishment’s man. Now Imam’s joining of the National Party has proved the fact that National Party is working on the interests of the Establishment under the disguise of a Baloch nationalist party,” said the spokesman.

The BLF spokesman recalled that Imam Bizenjo had allegedly given Rs. 120 million to the establishment to carry out a military operation in Balochistan while a former District Nazim of Turbat, Maula Baksh Dashti of the National Party had issued numerous statements in the media in 2003 in support of the military operation. He also charged NP leader Jan Mohmmad Buledai, a former member of the Balochistan Assembly, of speaking against Baloch freedom fighters on the floor of the Balochistan Assembly

“We appeal to the Baloch people to bring these people with double standards to public accountability,” appealed the BLF spokesman.

KECH: A Pashtun cloth vendor was killed on Tuesday by unidentified persons in Buleda area of Kech district for which the underground Baloch Liberation Froint (BLF) accepted responsibility.

According to the details, Abdul Sattar, son of Abdullah, who was reported to be a resident of Quetta, was killed by unknown attackers in Buleda area of Kech district. It was the first case of target killing of a Pashutn in Baloch areas. The BLF accepted responsibility for the killing saying that the slain person was working in the Baloch majority area as a spy.

Local sources said that cloth vendors had been warned in the past not to come in the streets and sneak inside the people’s houses under the excuse of selling clothes. Abdul Sattar used to sell clothes on his cycle while going to different parts of the town. The other sources said his killing could have been the outcome of a frustrated attempt of robbery. The local police did not give any reasons yet for the killing of the businessman. They said investigations were underway.

Pashtun businessmen in Turbat reacted angrily towards the killing of Abdul Sattar by shutting down their shops and protesting in public. They said such cases would undermine the Baloch-Pashtun relations as the murdered businessman was totally innocent.

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Mohammad Aslam Raisani was the first to condemn the killing of Abdul Sattar in Buleda and called for brining the culprits to book.

TURBAT: The entire Mekran region comprising of Turbat, Panjgur and Gwadar districts was plunged into stark darkness after a technical fault disrupted the power supply to major towns of Mekran from Iran on the eve of Eid.

Reports coming from Mekran confirm that a technical fault detected in the power supply that comes to Mekran from Iran occurred at Jaki Kor area of Iran which caused a massive power breakdown across Mekran region.

As a result of the power breakdown Turbat, Panjgur, Gwadar, Pasini, Hoshab and Sami remained in the grip of complete darkness from 16:00pm to 2:00am on Monday. The disruption of power supply causes serious problems for the local people during the Eid festivities as people continued to visit the homes of their relatives to greet them on Eid.

However, officials from concerned departments managed to restore the supply of power late in the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
